It is a sad time for golf. It has lost a true ambassador of the game. I had a basic knowledge about Byron Nelson's accomplishments but I did not have any clue about the man himself. From hearing all of the news and interviews with people in the sports community, I am even more impressed with the person than the golfer. He retired so early in his carreer when he could have gone on and continued winning who knows how many championships. But he had his own plans. Without the official title of ambassador, Byron Nelson truely lived out the duties associated with the title. Just listen to the interviews with the top golfers today and what they are saying. All of golf is mourning his loss.
